Expert Guidance to Achieve COR Certification and Strengthen Your Safety Program

At Professional Safety and Audit Services, we specialize in guiding businesses through the Certificate of Recognition (COR) certification process. Our strategic approach ensures your company meets all provincial safety standards while positioning you to win contracts and improve workplace safety.

Whether you're seeking first-time COR certification or need help renewing your certification, our consulting services are tailored to your unique business needs, industry, and safety goals.

Why COR Certification Matters

Achieving COR certification is more than a compliance requirement; it's a competitive advantage. In industries like construction, oil & gas, and manufacturing, having COR certification can be the difference between landing major contracts and missing out.

By partnering with us, you'll gain:

1

Access to more contracts:

Many companies and public sector entities require COR certification for safety compliance before doing business.

2

Improved workplace safety:

COR certification proves that your business prioritizes safety, reducing the risk of workplace incidents and downtime.

3

Lower insurance premiums:

Businesses with COR certification will benefit from lower WCB (Workers' Compensation Board) premiums due to proven safety practices.

Our COR Certification Strategy Process

Achieving COR certification can be a complex and time-consuming process, but Professional Safety and Audit Services makes it simple and streamlined with our step-by-step strategy consulting:

1. Comprehensive Safety Program Review

We start by reviewing your current safety program and identifying any gaps in compliance with COR standards. This allows us to build a customized action plan that addresses your company's specific needs.

What is a gap analysis? A Gap Analysis is a comprehensive report prepared by our skilled safety specialists to assess the alignment of your safety program with the necessary standards for successfully passing an examination, inspection, or audit, particularly a COR Safety Audit in most instances. At Professional Safety & Audit Services, we meticulously compare your existing safety program with the precise requirements outlined in the audit protocol by your Certifying Partner. Upon completion of the analysis, your company gains valuable insights to develop action plans that ensure full compliance with all requirements well ahead of the audit. The documentation you will receive for each section of the audit serves as an illustrative example of our thorough assessment, providing a clear and detailed breakdown of your safety program's current state and how it aligns with the audit criteria. This valuable information equips your organization with the knowledge needed to address any shortcomings proactively, implement necessary improvements, and fortify your safety practices to meet the high standards set by the Certifying Partner, paving the way for a successful audit outcome.

Gap Analysis Example

Hazardous Material

Documentation:

1

Compliance:

The Company’s WHMIS program states that special precautions are taken when manufacturing, using, handling, storing, and disposing of controlled products.

2

Recommendations:

The Company needs to consider the requirements of Alberta OH & S Code, Part 4, Chemical Hazards, Biological Hazards and Harmful Substances and Part 20, Radiation Exposure. Where there is a potential for exposure to these hazards, a procedure or Code of Practice should be developed. At a minimum, biological hazards with respect to blood and bodily fluids should be addressed by including methods to control these hazards in the company’s current First Aid procedure.

3

Implementation:

Ensure all employees who work with or near controlled products are provided WHMIS training, that MSDS are available and current for all controlled products that are used, stored, handled or disposed of during company operations.

2. Corrective Action Plans and Training

Once we’ve identified areas for improvement, we help you implement a corrective action plan and provide any necessary training to ensure your staff understands the updated safety protocols. Our goal is to help you create a compliant, sustainable safety program that meets all COR requirements.
